Killington Golf Club in Vermont

In touristy Killington, Vermont - one of the most popular ski destinations in the northeast - it's something of a surprise to find a golf course as good as Killington Golf Club. While definitely more of a resort golf course than other courses in New England - Sunday River and Sugarloaf, both in Maine, come to mind - Killington still offers good challenge, and value, for the money. At only 6,186 yards, this par-72 course is accessible to all skill levels. Mid- to high-handicappers will appreciate its generous landing areas, while low-handicapers will be challenged on Killington's greens, which seem to always play tougher than first they first appear.

The course is built at about 2,000 feet above sea level, so wind is a factor, and architect Geoffrey Cornish has built in a lot of movement into the fairways, many of which are sloped and demand thoughtful tee shots.
