Jiyai Shin, a 21-year-old from South Korea, scored her second win of the season with a victory at the 2009 Wegmans LPGA Sunday at Locust Hill Country Club in Pittsford, N.Y. Although officially she's a rookie this season, Shin has managed five victories in the last 11 months.
Sandra Gal was ahead after the first round, but Shin quickly captured the lead in the second. Michelle Wie, who finished tied for 10th, was four strokes behind Shin after the third round before she faltered in the final round.
Shin finished the final round with an impressive seven-shot victory over Kristy McPherson and Yani Tseng, who each finished at 10 under. Three rookies - Haeji Kang, Mika Miyazato and Stacy Lewis - tied for fourth place at 9 under.
In 2008, Shin won the Women's British Open and the Mizuno Classic.
