Finca Cortesin Golf Resort in Costa Del Sol, Spain
Located between Marbella and Sotogrande on Spain's Costa Del Sol is the new Finca Cortesin Golf Resort, home to 18 holes of championship golf just off the Mediterranean Sea. It's set to host the Volvo World Match Play Championships from 2009-11, which showcases the 16 top-ranked golfers in the world.
The Finca Cortesin golf course is designed by Cabell B. Robinson. It is set on rugged, mountainous terrain just off the Mediterranean Sea and plays to a championship length of over 6,800 meters from the tips. Several holes will shape up well for match play format, like the short, par-4 fourth, which is just 305 meters and drivable from an elevated tee. The signature 13th hole is another short par 4 with centenary trees framing the green.
While the golf course and facilities are exceptional, certainly one of the Costa Del Sol's top new courses, the hotel, recently opened in October 2008, is a sight to behold. It's a five-star property with a magnificent spa, plus spacious guest rooms and an award-winning chef at Schilo.
