Falcon's Fire Golf Club in Kissimmee, Florida

Falcon's Fire Golf Club in Kissimmee fits in well with the Orlando golf scene: an upscale, semi-private course that appeals especially to tourists looking for pristine conditions, picture-perfect Florida wading birds and a welcome-to-Orlando layout that will let them brag about their score to friends back home.

This Rees Jones work, opened in 1993, shows off the architect's classic, traditional course-design values. It's very open in the interior, with fairways as wide and inviting as Orlando International Airport that encourage you to play from the back tees (6,901 yards). Many of the greens are open in front, allowing for some bump-and-run, and they sport neither severe slope nor undulation, though they are fun to putt on because they roll true and have some speed to them. There is a bit of rough to slow you down, but it's difficult to lose balls on a course like this. It's Florida golf at its best.
