The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach

There is no more prestigious golf course in Myrtle Beach than the Dunes Golf & Beach Club. Robert Trent Jones built the course in 1949 and it has since become one of the most studied and acclaimed of his 500 designs. It is a former host to the Senior Tour Championship.

As its name implies, the Dunes Golf & Beach Club golf course sits just off the ocean, which can be seen from the ninth hole and clubhouse. The 11th hole, "Salt Marsh," is also one of the prettiest - and penal - holes in Myrtle Beach.

The course's most famous hole is the par-5 "Waterloo," which wraps around Lake Singleton just off the beach.

The Dunes Golf & Beach Club is semi-private, and guests must book a package with an affiliated hotel or condo property to receive playing privileges.
