The Nicklaus Course is the original golf course at Colleton River Plantation near Hilton Head Island. It is also higher rated by several publications - including TravelGolf.com and Golf Digest - than its neighbor, the Pete Dye-designed course, which is set alongside the beautiful Port Royal Sound.
Debate ranges among members which is the better golf course, but that's a good problem to have. Both the Nicklaus and Dye possess different challenges and a different palette. The Nicklaus, in fact, has several different identities wrapped into one. It features a collection of inland, Lowcountry holes, marshland holes and rugged dunesland overlooking the river.
Both golf courses at Colleton River are private. Membership can be attained through purchase of real estate.
