Coeur d'Alene Golf & Spa Resort in Northern Idaho

The first thing anyone hears about the Coeur d'Alene Golf & Spa Resort's golf course is the famous floating island green. It's also the first thing you'll see pulling into the parking lot.

While this par-3 14th hole may be the one that everyone remembers, it's hardly the only unique thing about this golf course in Northern Idaho, about 40 minutes from the Spokane, Wash., airport.

This Scott Miller design actually has a four-hole stretch that plays right along the lake (11 through 14) and a few holes on the front nine that also provide great views of the Coeur d'Alene lake. Miller really puts out showy pars 3 at Coeur d'Alene, including one where the green's blocked by a hulking rock (the fifth hole), meaning that you have to shoot over the boulder from a high tee to safely land on.

Service may be more over the top than even the holes, though. Coeur d'Alene boasts golf carts with mahogany paneling and heated leather seats. There's also a water taxi you take to get to that floating island green once you tee off.
