Patriots Point Golf Links in Mount Pleasant, S.C., is an excellent day on the links, and not just for the views. It's another scenic, playable Charleston-area golf course, with little rough to speak of.
Open and ocean-side, Patriots Point can be a different play day-to-day thanks to the wind. The last three holes are among the most scenic and challenging. You want to be confident with your driver from the elevated tee box at No. 16, a marsh-hugging dogleg right. No. 17 is a par-3 with a small, crowned island green; when the wind is swirling (which is usually), club selection can be tricky. The closing hole bends left with a relatively narrow fairway.
Green fees range from $48 to $100, with the lowest rate reserved for locals.
