The 50th Bob Hope Classic hosted by Arnold Palmer at PGA West
PGA Tour veteran Pat Perez earned his first PGA Tour victory in an unlikely way this week at the Bob Hope Classic presented by Arnold Palmer at PGA West in Palm Springs, Calif. Perez took advantage of a shocking collapse by leader Steve Stricker, who would card a final-round 77, and eagle the final hole to shoot a 69, placing him three shots ahead of second place, John Merrick.
It was Perez's first victory in 198 career starts and seven years on tour and earned him $918,000. Stricker on the other hand, carded a triple bogey on the 7th and a quadruple bogey on the 10th hole en route to his 77, which was the second highest round of the day by the entire field. Stricker finished tied for 3rd with Mike Weir at 28-under and earning $295,800.
Now hosted by Arnold Palmer, this is the 50th staging of the golf tournament in the desert. Here are some shots taken from the action at PGA West all week.
