Belmont Golf Course is the largely forgotten host of the 1949 PGA Championship. Now you can play this Richmond golf course where Sam Snead was crowned for as little as $18 per round. Even if the golf course is in so-so shape, it's a bargain for a 1916 A.W. Tillinghast layout.
The fairways are narrow here, and the design is unique. There are 13 par 4s, three par 3s and only two par 5s. No hole measures more than 504 yards from the back tees, but the long, tight par 4 bring in some challenge. The first hole, with an elevated tee below an old mansion-style building a moat guarding the green, starts the round with a dose of old-school theatrics.
