Samsung World Championship at Torrey Pines
Na Yeon Choi of South Korea captured her first LPGA Tour victory at the Samsung World Championship.
Although she struggled in the third round, Choi birdied the final hole at Torrey Pines South to take the win at 16-under 272.
Ai Miyazato, of Japan, had a strong chance of winning after she birdied the 12th hole in the final round, but after disappointing results on the 18th hole, Choi was able to scoop in for the win. Miyazato ended the day with a 69, the low round of the day, but she finished with 15-under 273 for second place in the tournament.
Jiyai Shin took third place with 11-under 277. Last year's champion, Paula Creamer, tied with Lorena Ochoa for fourth place with a score of 9-under 279.
Going into the 2009 Samsung World Championship, Choi had finished in the top 10 nine times.
