Palmetto golf course at The Landings in Savannah, Georgia

05/07/2008

The Palmetto golf course is where members of The Landings go when they're due for a whipping. It isn't as though this is the most difficult golf course in Georgia, although if you want to take it on from the back tees at a tad under 7,000 yards, you're looking at a considerable slope rating of 141. The Creek at Hard Labor State Park in Rutledge, Georgia

05/06/2008

The Creek at Hard Labor State Park is the most difficult of the Georgia state park golf courses. It isn't long at only 6,426 yards from the back tees, but it has awkward angles off the tee that, with all the elevation changes, can get you in a peck of trouble. Many of the approach shots are no piece of cake, either, playing into difficult greens. [...] more »

Branson Creek Golf Club in Hollister, Missouri

05/02/2008

Branson Creek Golf Club plays up and down the hills of the high plateau that takes up most of southern Missouri. Those holes that play along the high, rocky ridges give off grand, misty views, and the holes that plunge down to the valleys are perhaps even more scenic, with purple-flowered hills rising gracefully above the fairways. Holiday Hills Resort and Golf Club in Branson, Missouri

04/29/2008

There are some excellent golf courses in Branson, the live-country-musical capital of the world and budding golf destination - just not Holiday Hills Resort and Golf Club. The course suffers from a myriad of problems. The fairways are too close together for one thing, and the tee boxes and fairways could use some tender loving care. [...] more »

The Oakridge golf course at The Landings near Savannah, Georgia

04/14/2008

The Oakridge course at The Landings on Skidaway Island near Savannah is only 6,675 yards from the back tees. No matter, though: The Oakridge isn't about slamming the driver. This Arthur Hills design is all about the short game (though there are still some interesting looks off the tees). [...] more »

Kauai Lagoons Golf Club in Hawaii

04/03/2008

Kauai Lagoons Golf Club was originally home to two 18-hole championship courses, the Kiele and Mokihana, both designed by Jack Nicklaus. The club is currently undergoing a face lift as part of the new Ritz-Carlton expansion of the Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club. The back nine of the Kiele and front nine of Mokihana are closed. The Kiele is under renovation and is expected to reopen sometime in early 2009, while the fate of the Mokihana front nine is yet to be decided. [...] more »

04/03/2008

The Makai Course is one of two golf courses at the Princeville Resort on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai. The original course at Princeville, the Makai consists of three nines: the Lakes, Ocean and Woods. Of the three, the Lakes and Ocean nines offer multiple coastal holes with spectacular scenery, with the signature par-3 seventh hole on the Ocean being the jaw-dropper. [...] more »

The Prince Course at the Princeville Resort on Kauai

04/01/2008

The Prince Course is one of Hawaii's highest rated golf courses, one of two courses at the Princeville Resort on Kauai's North Shore.
