New Kool Tee offers relief to motion restricted golfers

ZEELAND, Michigan – Dec. 16, 2004 – With the average age of golfers moving steadily upward, more and more of those who love golf will see leg, hip and back maladies restrict their ability to play. Finally, help is on the way, thanks to a revolutionary new product called Kool Tee, which can help players tee their ball, retrieve it and fix ball marks on putting surfaces.

The Kool Tee is made by Extol Incorporated of Zeeland, Michigan, and offers much-needed help to golfers suffering from many age-related leg, back and spinal problems. With its pistol grip and unique patented (pending) design, the Kool Tee allows players to tee a golf ball up without having to bend their knees, hips or back. Once the ball and tee are situated appropriately, the player simply releases the trigger of the device. Presto! The ball is on the tee ready to be struck.

“People who have sampled our product have told us this operation alone would make it worthwhile for them to own the Kool Tee,” says inventor Konrad Marcus. “Until now golfers with leg or back problems have had to turn to a number of different strategies just to begin play, none of which have been any good for their game. Instead of going through a painful ritual or using a lofted club to hit a ball off the ground, Kool Tee users can now safely and quickly use a driver--or any other club--whenever they want. That alone is bound to have a huge impact on the enjoyment they get from golf,” says Marcus, internationally known as the inventor of the lighted sun visor for cars.

Another aspect of the Kool Tee is its claw, which allows a golf ball to be removed safely and quickly from a cup. Golf balls can also be easily picked up from irregular ground surfaces using the Kool Tee claw, and even objects as small as tees can easily be retrieved by another Kool Tee feature, the spade. “We’ve tried to build a product that anticipates all the ways motion-restricted golfers might need assistance,” says Chuck Berghuis, Sales & Marketing Director for the product. “The Kool Tee helps expedite a golf round in so many direct ways. There’s even benefits for people who aren’t using one, including improved pace of play.”

The Kool Tee is available in six different colors, and the company offers custom color and private labeling options as well. The handle and claw of the device are molded from high-strength ABS (which is typically used in safety headgear and luggage) while the stainless steel blade has utility in repairing ball marks. The product clips safely to virtually any golf bag and comes with a five-year warranty. The Kool Tee is now available to the public for $89.95 plus shipping.

“Until now, so many players like myself have been facing the unpleasant prospect of curtailing their golf and giving up the game altogether because of injuries,” says Kool Tee investor Pres Kool, whose nagging back problems motivated his longtime friend Marcus to search for a golf product remedy. “With the Kool Tee, we hope to give those folks a new lease on their golf life.”
