I've noticed something about fashion here in Columbus, Ohio and I wonder if it just happens here or is it everywhere?

My wife and I love to go to nice restaurants. It's our hobby. She's from Louisville and I'm from Huntington, so maybe there's a Southern influence in our sartorial decisions: We dress up when we go out to an expensive restaurant, trying to look as if we're supposed to be there.

But no matter where we go, and there are plenty of upscale restaurants in the Columbus area, there always is a guy there wearing a T-shirt, jeans and a ball cap, showing no respect for the scene.

This too-casual look also is seen at The Memorial Tournament, which is one of the biggest social events on the central Ohio calendar, along with every Ohio State University football game. I'm not going to bitch too much about T-shirts or caps at this PGA Tour event, because it's hot and that's one way to keep from suffocating.

But dudes, please listen up: There is never an instance when it's acceptable to wear jean shorts. I understand that women's fashion often dictates denim in skirts or shorts. But denim shorts on a guy? That's as bad those two fat twins riding the mini-bikes. Do everyone a favor and buy some shorts that weren't cut from pants you used to wear.
