MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- Champ Spikes, the number one brand on tour, continued its tour dominance this weekend as winners of both the PGA Tour and European Tour chose CHAMP spikes. This is the third week in a row that CHAMP has had multiple winners.
“I said it last week and I’ll say it again this week,” said Harris MacNeill, President of CHAMP “Victories are fantastic. Having multiple victories for three consecutive weeks is even more impressive. To have these facts confirmed with an industry recognized source for equipment verification is absolutely essential. We, along with other golf industry leaders, rely on this service to provide us with accurate player usage information.”
On the PGA Tour, at the Memorial Tournament Presented by Morgan Stanley at Muirfield Village, the rain that battered the course on the final morning challenged golfers to score on the softened greens and provided some difficult footing. For the champion, who shot a 7-under 65 on Sunday to win the Memorial by one stroke, neither the scoring nor the footing was a problem. The champion, who captured his fifth career victory, relied on CHAMP Pro Stinger™ spike, the industry’s only hybrid spike, to provide the solid base in the slick conditions. Eight of the top ten finishers wore CHAMP spikes.
On the European Tour, at The Celtic Manor Wales Open, the champion relied on the CHAMP Stinger™ to provide traction, comfort and stability on the way to victory in one of the most competitive events in recent history. The 25 year old champion shot an incredible 29 on the back nine for a 12-under-par 264 to secure the victory, beating four other competitors who finished in a tie with scores of 265.
The Celtic Manor Wales Open, with a field of 165, had the majority of players wearing CHAMP spikes. A stunning 63% looked to the Stinger, Pro Stinger or the traditional metal Cermec® spikes. The crowded leader board was filled with players wearing the CHAMP brand as 11 of the top 13 players chose the number one brand on tour.
