PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- More than 200 tournaments with a combined 13,000 entries will benefit from an expansive sponsorship of PGA of America Professional tournaments by the PGA Tour. The new agreement provides sponsorship of national and regional tournaments in all 41 PGA of America geographical Sections effective this year.

PGA Tour Named Supporting Sponsor of 200 PGA of America Professional Tournaments
"The PGA is delighted to welcome the PGA Tour's broad based sponsorship of tournaments for our member professionals," said PGA of America Chief Executive Officer Joe Steranka. "The financial commitment the Tour has made to support both PGA Sections and the PGA Professional National Championship further demonstrates how the two Associations recognize the importance of promoting the highest quality of golf, as well as playing opportunities for PGA members to showcase their tremendous golfing talents on the national stage."

PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem acknowledged that the agreement "is certainly a win for everyone involved, as the PGA Tour is proud of our new designation as a Supporting Sponsor of PGA of America Professional Tournaments. The PGA of America, its 41 Sections and its Professionals help grow the game of golf every day, offer significant support to PGA Tour, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour events, and are actively involved in The First Tee and other programs that widen the influence of the game."

In addition to helping support competitive events at the Section level, the PGA Tour will continue to provide financial support for the PGA Professional National Championship, the premier annual Championship for PGA Professionals. The 40th PGA Professional National Championship will take place at Crosswater Golf Club and Meadows Golf Course, at Sunriver (Ore.) Resort, June 21-24, 2007. The Top 20 finishers advance to compete in the 89th PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., Aug. 9-12, 2007.
