The Irish Open is being contested this weekend at Adare Manor at the magnificent Adare Manor Hotel and Resort in County Limerick in south west Ireland.

This will be the first time the Open takes place here. It will also be played at this site in 2008 and 2009. Adare Manor has hosted several Irish Seniors Open Championships in its 12 year history. The last of which was in 2004.

Roger Rulewich was the senior designer with Robert Trent Jones Sr when the architect's firm did the layout and built this course that opened in 1995. Last fall , in preparation for the open Roger returned to the site to develop a plan for renovations. He and the Roger Rulewich Group completed the work which included new bunkers and redoing the practice and short game areas. Three new greens were added at the short game area for pitching, chipping, and bunker play. Eight new tees were built to lengthen the course and to provide some angle change.
