CARLSBAD, Calif. -- BrightStar Golf Group LLC, the Carlsbad, California-based golf management firm announced the acquisition of The Golf Club Redlands Mesa in Grand Junction Colorado. This is BrightStar Golf’s second portfolio acquisition in Colorado after purchasing The Pinery Country Club in Parker, Colorado in December, 2004.
BrightStar Golf Group acquired the property from Red Junction, LLC.
The Golf Club at Redlands Mesa was designed by award-winning golf course architect Jim Engh, whose layouts include The Sanctuary in Sedalia, CO, and Hawktree Golf Club in Bismarck, ND. Engh took full advantage of the high desert landscape by creating a course that incorporates many elevation changes and winds through the dramatic natural topography. Wherever possible, native terrain and plants were left untouched. Many areas of the course incorporate large rock outcroppings and many marvelous views of the Grand Mesa, the Bookcliffs and most notably the Colorado National Monument.
The nationally recognized golf course was recently ranked as America’s 17th best Public Golf Course in the top 100 rankings for 2007 – 2008. Additionally, it was ranked by Golf Digest as the fourth best golf course in Colorado behind Castle Hills Golf Club, Cherry Hills CC and Sanctuary.
The par-72 Redlands Mesa plays a distance ranging from 7.007 yards to 4,916 yards depending on which of the tees are used. From the championship tees, the course has a U.S.G.A. rating of 72.1 and a slope rating of 137.
“We’re excited to announce our second Colorado golf course purchase in our growing portfolio. We feel Colorado is going to be a key area for our company and The Golf Club Redlands Mesa is a great fit for us.” said Bill Keogh, Founder of BrightStar Golf.
Below is a unique description of The Golf Club of Redlands Mesa by Golf Digest Magazine. Attached also is a list of various golf course awards for The Golf Club of Redlands Mesa.
"Positioned beneath the slopes of jagged buttes south of Grand Junction, Colorado, in the shadow of the towering pink and red sandstone face of the Colorado National Monument, Redlands Mesa is like playing golf along the bottom of the Grand Canyon, with a couple of sojourns to the Garden of the Gods thrown in.
Redlands Mesa is a spectacular course that occasionally overwhelms the senses in its grandeur.” --Golf Digest
