SARASOTA, Fla. – Dec. 29, 2004 – GPS Industries Inc. (OTCBB:GPSN)(Frankfurt WKN#:252179), a leading innovator of Wi-Fi wireless and GPS-enabled multimedia communications and management solutions for golf facilities, resorts, sporting events and residential communities, presented the Company's products and strategy at Saturday's Southern California Investment Association (SCIA) Conference, in Newport Beach, California.
Blake Ponuick, GPSI's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, presented an overview of the Company's proprietary line of Global Positioning System (GPS) and wireless-fidelity (Wi-Fi) enabled products. Some highlights of Mr. Ponuick's presentation included:
-- A $3 million financing received from Great White Shark Enterprises, Inc., headed by legendary professional golfer and successful international businessman, Greg Norman. Mr. Norman joined GPSI's Board of Directors two years ago and is an active spokesman for the Company. Great White Shark Enterprises is a leading force in many areas of the worldwide golf industry, including course design, and the development of golf-based residential communities, and has already begun to provide meaningful business synergies with GPSI's products. Further details of the Great White Shark investment can be found in the Company's Dec. 3 news release, available on the GPSI website at www.gpsindustries.com/news.asp.
-- Recent purchase of key GPS golf patents for North America. With this purchase, GPSI now owns the patents to GPS for golf in all major golf markets worldwide, including Japan, Australia and 11 European nations. This purchase removes competitive market barriers and creates a significant competitive edge for GPSI, while providing a significant new revenue source through licensing fees, with material revenue already being generated.
-- Significant worldwide marketplace momentum with the recent expansion of the Company to Europe, new distributorships in Australasia and golf facility installations and new sales throughout North America.
-- Potential of GPSI's applications to golf residential communities and leveraging the technology to markets beyond golf, including security applications, spectator sports such as automotive racing, stadium sporting events and other location-based applications.
GPSI's family of Inforemer products combines GPS and Wi-Fi communications to transform GPS from a distance-measuring tool to a key business solution and revenue generator for golf facilities, resorts, major spectator sports and residential communities worldwide.
GPSI's solutions employ a complete Wi-Fi network infrastructure with either cart-mounted or handheld high-resolution mobile display units. The systems provide a range of backend facilities-management communication tools, revenue-generating advertising, as well as innovative multimedia and communication services for customers, such as golf shot distance measurement and course information.
"Our products are helping golf courses improve their businesses and they help golfers improve their games. Essentially, we can turn any golf course into a large, wireless hot-spot, with proprietary GPS-enabled features, as well as next-generation communications and multimedia computing services," said Mr. Ponuick. "Now we are leveraging our core expertise in golf-industry products to enter other markets, such as major spectator sports and residential communities."
Golf-based residential communities are a fast-growing segment of the golf industry, estimated at $38 billion worldwide, Mr. Ponuick told attendees at the SCIA meeting. Through a national alliance of more than 150 firms and investment professionals, the SCIA's bi-monthly conferences typically showcase emerging publicly-held firms. The forums bring together NASD member firms and a wide variety of members of the investment community, including investment analysts, bankers, capital formation professionals and others.
GPS Industries already has a presence in every major golf market worldwide with offices in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, and distributors covering Australasia, North America and South Africa.
