The first annual Count Basie Ladies Golf Classic will be held Thursday, May 10, 2007 to benefit the preservation of this historic theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey. Eager to promote women playing golf, event chair, Beliza Ann Furman developed three levels of participation: a two hour clinic for those new to golf, a one hour clinic and nine-hole scramble, or an eighteen hole Stableford tournament for more accomplished lady golfers. Colts Neck Golf Club, Colts Neck, New Jersey will host the event.
Clinic instructors include, professional golfer Parker Smith, former senior editor of GOLF magazine and the creator of instructional videos Foresight I and II, John Kajfasz, senior instructor at the Faldo Institute of Golf at Seaview Marriott and Ron McDougal, head pro at Liberty National.
A lady golfer fashion show to include Lilly Pultizer, Polo, Burberry, Walter Genuine, and others will take place during a buffet lunch.
So far 77 players have signed up for this amazing, unique golf event, prizes and awards.
Auction prizes have been donated by The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island to include a two-night stay with a round of golf for four. Dave Nelson of the Faldo Institute of Golf has donated a two-day instructional program valued at $895.00.
