First Tee of Augusta relates success of Rock Fore! Dough concert

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The First Tee of Augusta is pleased to announce that once again the annual Drive For Show, Rock Fore! Dough concert drew a crowd of over 5,000 fans to its driving range and raised funds for The First Tee of Augusta.

On Tuesday night of this past Masters Week concertgoers enjoyed music from co-headliners & rock legends Cheap Trick and popular emo alternative rock group Dashboard Confessional. Opening for the headliners was regional favorite and Athens, Georgia native, Corey Smith, with this year’s first act and local slot going to singer-songwriter John Kolbeck.

The 2007 event brought new bands to Augusta and according to Jill Brown, First Tee of Augusta Executive Director, “Everyone really loves this event – no matter what bands are playing. We’ve created a great atmosphere out here that the community and out of town guests have come to expect and enjoy during Masters Week. Plus it’s fun and benefits a quality golf and life skills program.”

“Rock Fore! Dough” has raised approximately $200,000 over the past three years, all of which goes directly back to the First Tee of Augusta. The funding helps support The First Tee of Augusta golf and life skills programs and outreach activities.

The First Tee of Augusta’s mission is "To impact the lives of young people in the CSRA by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character-development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf, and to provide an affordable and accessible golf facility, primarily to serve those who have not previously had exposure to the game and its positive values."
