The Buckeye state isn't known as one of the nation's top golf areas, but Ohio boasts some golf courses that are excellent and have great prices. In this week's podcast, host Dave Berner talks to T.R. Massey, a blogger for TravelGolf.com and editor of Golf Styles Ohio Magazine, about Ohio's under-appreciated golf scene.

"Ohio has a hidden wealth of golf courses that, because the state has almost no resorts, people around the country don't know the resource that's here," Massey says. "Ohio has the fifth most golf courses in the United States. [But] it's a largely ignored natural resource that I think Ohio could capitalize on."

Regardless of your handicap, it's a good idea to get your clubs custom fitted, according to Kiel Christianson, TravelGolf.com equipment editor. This is just one of the things Christianson learned on a recent visit to the KZG Fitting and Training Center in North Hollywood, Calif.

"It was very sophisticated," he says. "They had launch monitors that told spin, swing speed, direction, all that stuff. It was quite thorough."

Plus, Karen Palacios-Jansen of Swing Blade Golf talks about helping golfers improve their fitness for a better game.

"Lately, my mission has been to help people get better at golf through improving their fitness," Palacios-Jansen says. "What you want to do is increase your strength and flexibility; you want to increase your endurance and your balance; and you want to increase muscle tone to reduce risk of injury."
