Yeoman House announces first in series of cookbooks for golfers

Yeoman House has announced the forthcoming publication of a series of cookbooks for golfers, featuring recipes of signature dishes drawn from the finest golf clubs and resorts across the nation.

GOLF DIGESTIBLES: The Southeast will be the first book in the series, with an anticipated publication date of October 2007. This cookbook will feature delicious clubhouse specialties from Florida to Virginia, South Carolina to the Cajun country of Louisiana.

“Fine dining is a major part of the golf experience,” said Yeoman House director Caleb Clarke in announcing the new series of cookbooks. “Some clubs are known for a special soup or appetizer, others for a hearty steak or a seafood dish that has become the ‘signature’ dish of that place. Our cookbook intends to search out these favorite dishes and present the recipes for all gourmet golfers to enjoy.”

Clarke said the hardcover, four-color cookbooks will also contain beautiful photos of both food and golf courses from the clubs represented, tips on wine and entertaining, and profiles of some of the more famous chefs working in the region.

Later volumes in the GOLF DIGESTIBLES™ series will cover resorts and clubs in the Southwest, West Coast, Midwest, Northeast and an International edition.

In announcing the series, Clarke has issued a call for recipes from golf clubs and resorts. “Our editors are currently scouring the Southeast, talking to chefs and golfers, and making lists of well-known dining rooms at golf clubs,” he said. “We encourage all golf clubs in the region who want to participate in this project to submit recipes for consideration in the book.”

The cookbook will present recipes for everything from hors d’oeuvres to desserts, main courses to cocktails. Recipes can be emailed to goodbooks@yeomanhouse.com or faxed to (661)885-4502. Information on the project is available at www.golfdigestibles.com.

The final size and price of the book have yet to be determined, but Clarke said he anticipates the book will contain approximately 250-300 pages and be priced at around $50.

“We think this will become one of the best golfer’s gift items ever,” he said.
