Jacobsen introduces new tournament quality greens mower

Jacobsen has introduced is the Eclipse 122 F greens mower, which the company says redefines tournament quality-of-cut. The mower will be available in the summer of 2007.

The Eclipse 122 F combines the In-Command control system with an independently mounted cutting unit to produce an optimum cut in any conditions. The floating-head design and a variety of performance options virtually eliminate the possibility of scalping, providing a consistent, low height-of-cut on difficult undulating and contoured greens.

"Jacobsen has always designed products with an emphasis on quality," said Quinn Derby, Jacobsen product manager. "The Eclipse 122 F delivers the best quality-of-cut and gives operators a level of control over performance that has never before been offered on the golf course."

It comes with separate, adjustable settings for reel speeds and mow speeds on an easy-to-read LCD screen. Superintendents can set frequency-of-clip to match the situation and choose from either gen-set or battery power. It also features four rolling surfaces to reduce overall ground pressure.

The company also introduced its newest Turf Groomer, available for all current Jacobsen fairway mowers with 7-inch diameter reels.

The new groomer features several innovations designed for simplicity:

* Reels can be sharpened while the groomer is attached
* All adjustments are made from the front of the reel
* A shorter roller base allows the cutting head to closely follow contours
* The roller is continuously cleaned, even when groomer is not lowered
* A new Poly-V belt is less likely to break if the mower hits an obstruction
* Lube points are easily accessible, located on the end of the shafts
* Adjustments and settings are maintained during cleaning

"A big reason why most superintendents don't practice grooming is because it used to be difficult. Our newest Turf Groomer eliminates that concern," said Todd Kierstead, product manager. "It's the easiest groomer on the market to install, adjust and maintain, giving superintendents reason to groom their courses more regularly."
