Nicole Morales in first Rolex Girls Junior Championship appearance

BRASELTON, Ga. -- Two-time Rolex Junior All-American and 2014 graduate Nicole Morales of South Salem, New York, will return to her home state to compete in her first Rolex Girls Junior Championship, held at The Country Club of Rochester in Rochester, New York, June 9-13.

"This is a great feeling to be back in New York on my home turf," said Morales, who played out of Orlando since fall 2013. "Due to my school schedule, I've never played in a Rolex Girls Junior Championship before. I've trained really hard and I'm excited to put all my energy into this tournament."

Morales transferred from John Jay High School in South Salem, New York, to Orlando, where she attended Lake Mary Preparatory School and worked on her game under golf instructor Mike Bender. At No. 19 in the Polo Golf Rankings, Morales has three AJGA titles on her record including Invitational wins at the 2011 Polo Golf Junior Classic and the 2013 Thunderbird International Junior. She previously competed in the Rolex Tournament of Champions, finishing T4 and T6 in 2013 and 2012, respectively.

"I've heard how well the girls are treated by such a fantastic sponsor," Morales said. "Rolex goes out of its way to roll out the green carpet for the players. I'm very excited to finally play in this prestigious event. Many of the past champions are great friends of mine as well as role models, and I want to go out there and hopefully add my name to that list."

The summer will mark Morales' final junior season before she begins her collegiate career at the University of Alabama in the fall. She will first look to take on the Rolex Girls Junior Championship field which includes 25 Rolex Junior All-Americans and 47AJGA champions. Morales is one of only two New York natives to compete.

"It is great to be a New Yorker and I am so blessed to be in Rochester and have such a great community behind me," Morales said. "I'm excited and happy for the support, and I cannot wait to make the New Yorkers proud."

Tournament play will begin on Tuesday, June 10 through Friday, June 13 with tee times each day from 7-8:50 a.m. off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees at The Country Club of Rochester. Guests are welcome to attend and admission is free.
