WCI Communities Junior Golf Foundation has awarded scholarships to six outstanding high school golfers in Lee and Collier counties for the 2013-2014 school year.
The annual Academic & Athletic Achievement Award scholarship program, now in its 14th year, has awarded a total of $264,500 to 96 deserving high school seniors who exhibit skill, talent and dedication, both on and off the links.
Kelly Reynolds of Bishop Verot High School and William Rasmussen of Barron Collier High School each will receive a $4,000 scholarship from the foundation.
Anthony Noll of Gulf Coast High School and Chase Kollmann of Bishop Verot High School each will receive a $3,000 scholarship.
Garrett Edwards of Gulf Coast High School and Aaron Hunter of Estero High School each will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
"All of these students have demonstrated a commitment to school involvement, scholastic accomplishment, leadership and community service, along with a true appreciation for the game of golf," said Ed Weber, foundation board member. "We are extremely proud of their dedication and continuous effort to work hard both inside and outside the classroom. It's an honor to be able to continue this tradition of acknowledging and rewarding efforts while supporting excellence in athletics and academics beyond the high school years."
The WCI Communities Junior Golf Foundation awards scholarships annually to graduating seniors who qualify from Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties. In addition to being a member of the foundation, junior golfers must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and have participated in a WCI Junior Golf event or similar tour within the last year.
