Nicklaus Golf Equipment reports on new Compri clubs for women

Women’s golf continues to be one of the faster growing parts of the game and with Mother’s Day just around the corner, what would be more appropriate as a gift than a new set of clubs…not just another set of ladies clubs, but a set of clubs specifically designed to incorporate new technologies to help make the game easier to play.

That’s what Nicklaus Golf Equipment had in mind when it added a new line of women’s clubs to its 2007 portfolio designed especially to help women get shots airborne easier from tee to green.

The new line, called Compri, is available in a unique configuration of 3/3/3 (three woods, three hybrids and three irons). A matching putter and bag are available and sold separately.
Each club in the set has higher than normal lofts, making it easier for the woman to get her shots airborne especially for those just entering golf or those in the mid to high handicap range.

For example, in the three woods, the set consists of a driver with a 15 degree loft; a three wood with 19 degrees and a five wood with 24 degrees.

Hybrids consist of a 6 at 28 degrees; 7 at 34 degrees and an 8 at 40 degrees. Irons are a 9 at 46 degrees; pitching wedge at 50 degrees and the sand wedge at 54 degrees. Made only for right hand players, all clubs use graphite ultra light flex shafts.

Compri features a titanium offset driver at 15 degrees which not only helps get the ball airborne, but helps generate distance and accuracy through the flexible ultra light shafts. The fairway woods are all oversized with generous offset with high lofts that place the point of impact under the center of the ball for quick high ball launch from any life.

The mid-irons have a wider sole that features a lower center of gravity for optimum launch angle and precise control.

The shafts are ultra-light with a low kick-point that increases swing speed.

“The women’s market is important to the growth of golf,” says Tony Dabbs, product manager for Nicklaus Golf Equipment. “While there are many options for women to choose from, the Compri was especially designed to help new women golfers to have an easier time in learning the game and advancing their skill levels.

“Our research shows that one of the most frustrating aspects for the game in general and in particular with new golfers is getting the ball airborne and moving it toward the cup. Compri was designed with that in mind…and I think our product will not only be effective and eye appealing.”

In addition to being designed to help women get the ball launched, Nicklaus Equipment added a touch of pink to the entire line from clubs to bag.

Sold as part of the Nicklaus Premium Golf line, MSRP for Compri is $499.99 for the 3/3/3 set of clubs.

The Compri is part of the Jack Nicklaus Signature Collection. In addition, the company manufactures more traditional women’s clubs in the Nicklaus Premium line for the more accomplished women golfer as well as boxed sets in the popular Golden Bear line for those just entering the sport for the first time.
