Sequoia Golf to manage California's Spanish Hills Country Club

CAMARILLO, Calif. -- Sequoia Golf's recent growth in the Southern California region continues to expand as the second largest private club operator in the country enters into a management contract with Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo, Calif. This is Sequoia Golf's third private club addition in the state in less than two years, adding to Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, Calif. and Pauma Valley Country Club in Pauma Valley, Calif.

"The board did a lot of research prior to making this decision," said Steve Thomas, president of the Spanish Hills Board of Trustees. "We were impressed with the initial presentation by Sequoia, their leadership and the culture they keep. We made reference calls to other clubs in their management portfolio and they told us that not only has Sequoia met their expectations, they've exceeded them - we look forward to echoing that same comment in the future."

Founded in 1993, Spanish Hills Country Club features 18 holes of championship golf designed by Robert E. Cupp as well five lighted Plexipave tennis courts, frequented by professional tennis players such as Bob and Mike Bryan. In addition to golf and tennis, Spanish Hills offers its members club dining, a lavish swimming pool and a full-service fitness center complete with personal training and massage therapy. Also known for its picturesque private event facilities, Spanish Hills plays host to exquisite weddings, banquets and meetings.

The club will continue to be led by General Manager Mike Orosco, who has built his career at Spanish Hills from the ground up, starting as a busser in 1993 and gaining experience as the Food & Beverage Director and Membership Director, then assuming the role of General Manager in 2007.

"We are very excited to have Sequoia Golf on board," said Orosco. "Sequoia's vast experience with operations, sales and marketing along with the immediate added value to the membership will prove to be a valuable competitive edge. With their knowledge, we will be able to better position Spanish Hills for success both now and in the future."

Through the management agreement, which begins on March 16, Sequoia will leverage its vast experience working with high-end private clubs to increase the value of club memberships and the overall quality of the guest experience. Part of Sequoia's unique member services is its PlayAway program, which gives Spanish Hills members access to its network of 450 private and resort clubs across North America.

"It is an exciting time for Sequoia, and our continued expansion into the Southern California market will enhance our offerings to the members of Spanish Hills and the Sequoia network alike," said Joe Guerra, president and CEO of Sequoia Golf. "We're fortunate for this opportunity and feel that we will prove to be a valuable asset to the Spanish Hills membership because of our industry experience and proven track record."
