Joyce Wilcox of Acworth, Georgia earns Top 50 Kids Teacher award

ACWORTH, Ga. -- Joyce Wilcox, academy director at Cobblestone Golf Course, has earned the Top 50 Kids Teachers Award for the second year in a row, the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation has announced.

The U.S. Kids Golf Top 50 Kids Teachers Award annually recognizes the world's most outstanding youth golf instructors. The class of 2013 includes golf professionals from 21 states, Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico, with recipients chosen from a record 747 applicants. Wilcox has the opportunity next year to be recognized with the Master Kids Teacher Award, given to an instructor who is named a Top 50 Kids Teacher three times.

Since 2004, U.S. Kids Golf (www.uskidsgolf.com) has honored golf's best teachers with the Top 50 Kids Teacher Award. Applicants complete an online survey and winners are chosen based on their contributions to junior golf, such as: time devoted to teaching young golfers; innovation, creativity and fun in their programs; communication; parental involvement; and overall effort to grow the game.

"I am delighted to be recognized by U.S. Kids Golf, and fortunate to play a part in Cobblestone's dedication to teaching children the fundamentals of golf, while making the sport fun," said Wilcox.

A Class-A member of the LPGA, Wilcox is an accomplished athlete who took up golf only after international success as the country's number one female skeet shooter, a multi-year World Champion and 1992 National Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame Inductee.

She began playing golf in 1980 and rose to the ranks as one of Connecticut's best women golfers, competing in various national amateur events. In 1990, Wilcox moved to Woodstock, Ga., and helped begin the first Atlanta Chapter of the Executive Women's Golf League before turning professional in 1992. She was recently nominated for Golf Digest's Best Teachers in State for 2013-2014.

Located in the northwest-Atlanta suburb of Acworth and managed by Mosaic Clubs & Resorts (www.MosaicClubs.com), Cobblestone is an upscale municipal course that offers sweeping views of Lake Acworth and affordable daily-fee play to thousands of Atlanta golfers. The highly acclaimed course was recognized among metro-Atlanta's best, according to an article recently posted on SI/GOLF.com. Cobblestone perennially earns a top ranking on Golfweek's list of the country's "Best Municipal Courses."
