SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- On March 7, 2014, at Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls, SD, Paul Schock--the founder of The Prairie Club--was officially inducted into the South Dakota Golf Association (SDGA) Hall of Fame.
Schock joined the Hall of Fame as one of only four golfers in South Dakota history to win both the Men's Match Play and Men's Amateur Championships in the same season (2002)--the most recent golfer to do so. He was honored as the SDGA Male Golfer of the Year on two separate occasions--24 years apart--in 1978 and 2002.
Schock has a list of national accomplishments as well, having played in six U.S. Amateur Championships, one U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship and participating on three United States Golf Association (USGA) Men's Team Championships, representing his home state of South Dakota. He also served on the USGA Mid-Amateur Committee.
In South Dakota amateur team play, Schock has been a member of nine SoDak Cup team competitions and possesses twelve wins--the second most wins by an amateur in SoDak Cup history.
In his recent years, Schock has been busy--alongside his yellow labrador companion, Rylee--developing, a golf resort located in the Sandhills of Nebraska. Since opening in 2010, The Prairie Club has quickly become one of the nation's top golf destinations, recently being ranked one of the "Top 10 Places For 36 Holes in North America" by Links Golf Magazine in 2013.
For Schock, who has spent the majority of his career as a venture capitalist, The Prairie Club represents a dream-come-true of combining business and pleasure. "Not many people get to chase their dream in the way we have at The Prairie Club. It's hard to put into words how blessed I feel to have been able to build something this special. It's truly a labor of love--certainly a lot of labor, but mostly love."
