Georgia's Currahee honored as "Best Golf Community of the Year"

TOCCOA, Ga. -- Currahee Club, the stunning, 1,200-acre mountain and lake golf community in northeast Georgia, has received the 2014 Bliss Award for "Best Golf Community of the Year, per a panel of industry experts at Real Estate Scorecard.

Real Estate Scorecard is a leader of online real estate reviews, providing in-depth information about the most popular master-planned communities in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. The service has monitored over 241 communities since 2011, and collected over 2,400 property owner reviews.

"It is most gratifying to receive this award and earn the validation of a respected industry expert like Real Estate Scorecard," remarked Andrew Ward, managing director of Currahee Club. "We'll display the award proudly to show the staff how much we value their hard work, and remind the property owners and club members of the special place they call home."

The centerpiece of Currahee Club is its 7,200-yard championship golf course framed by both Lake Hartwell and the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The course has been highly decorated of late, rising 20 spots to #42 on the list of "Best Residential Courses" in America, according to Golfweek magazine's panel of golf course raters. Rolex also named the Currahee Club golf course a "Top 1000 Course in the World."

According to Margie Casey, founder of Real Estate Scorecard, "We believe a key ingredient in a 'best golf course' includes its unique features that leave a long lasting impression upon its players Currahee Club's course is intriguing, with dramatic elevation changes and riveting long range views."

In addition to the golf course, the community recently added the compelling and finishing touches to its national-class collection of club amenities with the grand opening of the five-acre Currahee Sports Club and Amenity Campus, offering a broad collection of family sports and recreational facilities.

Other amenities at Currahee Club include a striking 48,000 sq. ft. clubhouse overlooking Lake Hartwell and featuring the Great Lodge Room, a billiards room, the Overlook Dining Room, Fazio Pub, plus several outdoor terraces and private meeting rooms. Men's and women's locker rooms are perfectly appointed, and include a custom made Irish bar and a private terrace on the men's side.

Additionally, the community is the proud home of the 2013 Southern Living Showcase Home, a warm and inviting four-bedroom residence overlooking Hole #17 - the dramatic "Quarry Hole" at Currahee Club. The Showcase Home is one of many new residential offerings at Currahee, which has established a burgeoning home builder program offering myriad architectural designs - from cottages to estate homes - in a variety of price ranges
