Hall-of-Famer Jack Nicklaus joins Golf Channel’s Morning Drive today (Thursday, 9:30-11:30 a.m. ET) as a featured guest during “Architects Week.” Interviewed by Gary Williams and Matt Ginella, Nicklaus covers a myriad of topics, including:
How a design career now approaching almost 300 golf courses got its start.
The past and present global work of Nicklaus Design.
The recently launched line of Nicklaus Golf Balls.
Nicklaus Courses hosting two Presidents Cups and a Ryder Cup in a three-year span.
Thoughts on Pinehurst No. 2.
Competing in the PNC Father/Son Challenge next week.
The dilemma he faces should grandson Nick O’Leary’s Florida State football team match up against his alma mater in the BCS National Championship.
Nicklaus: “Earlier this year, I was talking to Urban Meyer. He said, ‘We have a chance to be pretty good this year.’ I said, ‘Well Urban, I already bought tickets for the BCS Championship Game.’ He said, ‘Don’t tell me that, don’t jinx us.’ I said, ‘Urban, I bought those tickets because I hope Florida State gets there. I hope you guys get there too, because that would be a great game.’ Oddly enough, that may turn out to be the case.”
Nicklaus: “Obviously, I am a Buckeye and am a Buckeye at heart and always will be a Buckeye. But you don’t root against your blood, and that’s Nick.”
Morning Drive airs Thursday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. ET on Golf Channel.
