GDI wins 78th straight manufacturer and brand count at Casio World Open

SAN DIEGO, California – Dec. 1, 2004 – Graphite Design International (“GDI”) won the manufacturer and brand counts for the 78th straight week at the Casio World Open on the Japan PGA Tour, and the winner used GDI’s Tour AD W70 shaft is his fairway wood, according to the Darrell Survey.

The staggering streak dates back to the 2002 season, and GDI was represented in the winner’s circle for the 10th on the Japan PGA Tour this season and 39th overall in 2004. GDI dominated the manufacturer and brand counts, with 35 percent of the field using GDI shafts. GDI also won the graphite shaft model count for the third straight week, with nine Prototype Models (“PM”) in play.

GDI is coming off a solid year on the PGA Tour, in which an industry-leading 20 players used its shafts en route to their tournament wins in 2004. GDI’s popular YS-6 Model was also the most-played driver shaft for the second straight year according to the Darrell Survey.

All told, PGA Tour players amassed over $60 million in earnings using GDI shafts in their fairway woods and drivers this season, including the winners of the 2004 Masters and PGA Championship.

Other highlights from the 2004 regular season include GDI shafts being played by:

- The No. 1 player in the World Golf Rankings
- Two of the top three money leaders on the PGA Tour
- Two of the three best and active players on the PGA Tour
- The leader in Driving Accuracy Percentage

GDI’s performance and supremacy validates that the world’s best players – with their careers and livelihoods on the lines – prefer GDI shafts because their technologically advanced design and construction help them realize greater distance and accuracy from their golf shots.

GDI shafts specifically promote “Accuracy and Distance.” The core components of the company’s “AD” logo, these key competitive advantages help pros and amateurs optimize their game after switching to GDI shafts.

The company’s new YS Power and PM shafts for drivers and fairway woods, as well as its multi-material GAT (Graphite Alloy Technology) 105 LB and 75 shafts for irons, also result in significant game improvement in the form of superior balance, control, trajectory and impact feedback.
