The magnificent 18-hole Makai Golf Course, a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design, plays at 7,223 yards from the black tees, incorporating serene lakes and stunning ocean coastline. The Makai Course underwent a comprehensive 14-month renovation, reopening in early 2010 to rave reviews for its immaculate condition and playability. The course, perched on a bluff overlooking Hanalei Bay, is extraordinarily beautiful and was named one of the Top 5 Great Golf Settings in the U.S. by National Geographic Traveler. The Makai is currently ranked by Golf Digest as one of "America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses" and by GOLF Magazine and Golfweek as one of the top 5 public golf courses in Hawaii.
