Gary Player to lead jury for Take Solutions India Golf Awards

GURGAON, India -- Grand Slam champion and the world's most successful international golfer, Gary Player is set to lead the acclaimed Jury for the TAKE SOLUTIONS INDIA GOLF AWARDS powered by www.golfingindian.com. The country's first golf award ceremony promises to reward and recognize excellence in the sport during the November 5 event in Gurgaon.

Gary Player, known as the Black Knight, has achieved the kind of worldwide acclaim reserved for only a handful of sporting greats. Renowned as much for his dedication to the principles of excellence as he is for his golfing accomplishments that include 165 worldwide victories, Player has been impressed with the idea of the awards from the very first time he heard of recognizing excellence and leadership in the game in India.

"It's important in any industry to recognize leaders, and the India Golf Awards will do just that," said Player. "The recipients of these awards will have shown that they see the huge potential of golf in India, but their efforts need promotion and a media platform to inspire others. This annual event will help golf gain important momentum to establish itself as a prominent sport in India."

The India Golf Awards 2013 is backed by well-known patrons who are a part of the crème de la crème of the country's golf fraternity. Take Solutions, a bell weather technology company and a well-known supporter of the game, is proud of this association. Vice Chairman HR Srinivasan, a prolific golfer himself says, "The Take Solutions India Golf Awards powered by golfingindian.com will provide a superlative platform for golfing stars from all walks of life. We have supported the game throughout and we felt 'The India Golf Awards' will also set new benchmarks and create pathways to bring about positive change to promote golf in a rapidly changing business, leisure and recreational environment."

Powered by golfingindian.com, which has been set up by India's award winning business journalist and golf enthusiast Shaili Chopra, is already a forerunner in the genre of golf news focused on Indian players, golf courses and expert views.

On having Gary Player kick off the inaugural event, Chopra said, "it's a real honour for the India Golf Awards to have such an eminent personality launch this event, which promises to be a benchmark in the sport. Gary's presence makes it world class."

The awards boasts other eminent jury members such as Kavita Singh, Director on Ladies European Tour Board, and Abhi Parmar, Director General of Indian Golf Union, along with former number one India golfer Vikramjit Singh and former Callaway India boss, Vivek Mehta. The research and jury was conducted by global consultants Technopak and the host for the event for NDTV's famous sports anchor Sonali Chander.

With such distinguished jury members, the very best in the game are set to receive rave recognition as golfing corporate leaders, celebrities, bureaucrats, national leaders will be rewarded for their game on the same stage as professional golfers from India and around the world in a bespoke and stylized ceremony.
