Links at Royal Isabela in Puerto Rico hosts El Pastillo Golf Classic

ISABELA, Puerto Rico -- How many golf tournaments help fund a charity dedicated to preserving and protecting the very land surrounding the golf course?

On Saturday, September 21, 2013, The Links at Royal Isabela—the highly acclaimed golf course in Isabela, Puerto Rico— hosted the second annual El Pastillo Golf Classic. All proceeds from the event funded El Pastillo Conservation Trust, which was established by Stanley and Charlie Pasarell, natives of Puerto Rico and founders of Royal Isabela, in cooperation with Puerto Rico's Departamento de Recursos Naturales y Ambientales (DRNA).

The Trust is dedicated to preserving El Pastillo Beach and its surrounding cliffs, which adjoin the highly acclaimed golf course, officially opened in 2011.

The team of Carlos Nido, Jorge Blanco, Roberto Echevarria, and Jose Fernandez won the tournament with a gross team score of 61.

"Royal Isabela is very lucky and proud to inhabit this spectacularly beautiful piece of earth," says Stanley Pasarell, managing partner of Royal Isabela, whose team came in second with a score of 64. "The support of all players, our corporate partners, and donors is greatly appreciated."

The Trust established four initiatives regarding the property, which is located near the northwest corner of Puerto Rico, approximately 90 minutes from San Juan. Those initiatives are: the land's protection, conservation, and restoration, along with education. The Pasarells also created the Trust to increase the community's awareness and involvement in insuring that the land will be enjoyed for generations to come. Additional information may be found at
