Houston Golfers team up to support Arthritis Foundation tournament

The Arthritis Foundation's 8th Annual Joints in Action Golf Tournament will be held August 29, 2013 at the Redstone Golf Club Tournament Course, Home of the Shell Houston Open. The tournament, chaired by Dr. Bill Bryan, Methodist Hospital and Jim Dumler, CenterPoint Energy celebrates those living with arthritis after joint replacement surgery and those who make that life possible. More than a half a million dollars has been raised for research, programs and advocacy through this tournament over the past seven years.

Team registration and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. A post tournament party includes an award presentation, dinner, tournament bags for all players and raffle drawing for two nights at Pebble Beach, a golfer's dream trip, valued at $5,000. The trip includes an ocean front room for three nights, two days of golf on the Pebble Beach Golf Links and The Links at Spanish Bay. A mini auction, complements of Falls Resort and Golf Club, includes two rounds of golf for four plus two nights stay in a resort villa.

All event proceeds benefit the Arthritis Foundation of South Texas, which serves the more than one million adults and 5,000 children in the Houston area. Funds raised support the Foundation's programs which teach people how to manage their pain; camps for kids with arthritis to enjoy time with children who share their health challenges; parent support networks addressing the unique issues of raising a chronically ill child; resources and support for those recently diagnosed; access for all to find the proper care and medication; and funding for research. The Arthritis Foundation is the only private non-profit organization dedicated to the support of the more than 100 types of arthritis and is dedicated to finding a cure and ending the pain of the number one disability in the U.S.
