Greenway Golf Turf Management adds Grand Palms Resort in Pembroke Pines, Florida

ALAMEDA, Calif. -- Greenway Golf Management and Grand Palms Hotel & Golf Resort have entered into a long-term agreement for Greenway Golf to manage the golf course agronomic programs for the 27-hole facility. Located in the community of Pembroke Pines, Grand Palms Resort brings Greenway's total 18-hole equivalent courses in the region to four.

Greenway Golf, a boutique course maintenance and turf management firm, is very experienced in renovations and delivering superior course conditions in Florida, recently serving as the project and grow-in manager for the new award winning Waldorf Astoria Golf Club at Disney Orlando.

"In reviewing maintenance companies they all have the same basic M.O., they fertilize, cut, and water," said Grand Palms General Manager Rick Marjama. "But Greenway is different... These guys are turf scientists. They came here and explained what, where, and why certain things happen with turf conditions and provided us a unique plan to take Grand Palms to the next level."

In transitioning the property, Greenway will immediately go to work with plans this summer to conduct a full replanting of the golf course fairways to a single strand of hybrid-Bermuda. A process unique to Greenway with a machine called an over-planter, the project will be completed while the courses remain open with minimal disruption to play and will result in superior playing surfaces year round. Additional plans to create a better golf experience include improvements to green and tee box surfaces and extensive re-landscaping of the entire golf course property.

"We are excited about being selected to direct the turf management of Grand Palms, the desired objectives for the courses are a good fit for our company's unique Greenway Method for maintaining golf courses," stated Greenway Principal and Lead Agronomist, Marc Logan. "Grand Palms ownership and management share our commitment to providing members and guests a well conditioned golf course with smooth fast greens, defined fairways and roughs and manicured bunkers and landscaped areas with the highest environmental maintenance practices."
