PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Nov. 29, 2004 – Some of The PGA of America's premier golf teachers will be among the featured instructors at Play Golf America Day, Wednesday, Dec. 8, at the PGA Learning Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Play Golf America Day, open to those who play the game or are interested in learning the game, is a fun-filled day that includes free instruction, fitness evaluation, a "Kids Korner," skill contests, raffle prizes and goodie bags. Play Golf America Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the PGA Learning Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla. There is no admission charge.
Visitors also may trade-in their used golf clubs at the PGA Learning Center, an Authorized PGA Trade-In Network Facility, and receive a PGA Village gift certificate to be used toward products and services at PGA Village, including the PGA Golf Club and PGA Learning Center.
The guest instructors include the following past and current PGA Teachers of the Year: Hank Johnson of Birmingham, Ala. (2004); Laird Small of Pebble Beach, Calif. (2003); Craig Shankland of Ormond Beach, Fla. (2001); and PGA Director of Instruction Rick Martino of Stuart, Fla. (1997). Also joining the teaching delegation is LPGA Hall of Fame member Carol Mann of The Woodlands, Texas, who won 38 career events while becoming a significant figure in the development of the modern LPGA and who has also been honored as one of the LPGA's top 50 teachers.
Play Golf America Day provides new and existing golfers with the opportunity to participate in a special day of clinics and tune-up lessons with PGA Professionals, skill challenges and contests, and the opportunity to test the latest equipment from TaylorMade-adidas Golf Company. Golf Pride Grips will have a van on site to offer grip assessments that will enable golfers to determine the model and size that best meets their needs and preferences.

The Play Golf America campaign is a complete package of growth-of-the-game programs targeting various segments, including families, couples, women and business professionals. Led by The PGA of America, this industry initiative is supported by the PGA Tour, LPGA, USGA, National Golf Course Owners Association and GOLF 20/20.
