OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- PeakVision Sports -- makers of the patented Dual-Zone lens sunglasses designed specifically for golfers -- announces it will be featured as the official eyewear of “The Big Break VII: Reunion,” the Golf Channel’s popular reality-based golf skills competition which debuts Sunday, February 25 at 10 p.m. EDT..
PeakVision Sports’ participation in The Big Break VII marks the third consecutive season its sunglasses have been featured on the program. “The Big Break V: Hawaii” winner Ashley Prange wore PEAKS on her way to the title as did “The Big Break VI: Trump National” ladies and ultimate victor Briana Vega, who will compete in The Big Break VII and recently agreed to represent PeakVision Sports during her 2007 playing schedule. Joining Vega in this season’s cast is Big Break VI contestant Kelly Murray, who has also signed on to endorse PeakVision Sports sunglasses.
Like their predecessors, The Big Break VII’s cast of 16 contestants – eight male and eight female – will have access to the full suite of PeakVision Sports’ high-performance eyewear, including the recently introduced EL0 and EL1 frames. Show hosts Vince Cellini and Stephanie Sparks will also wear PEAKS during appropriate takes or as desired. PeakVision Sports will serve as a Big Break VII sponsor, with prominent mention and logo display during each episode’s opening as well as advertisements airing during broadcasts.
“PeakVision Sports sunglasses have clearly proved their effectiveness during the past two Big Break competitions and we are pleased to once again offer the eyewear to contestants,” says Gene Pizzolato, Executive Vice President of Advertising Sales & New Media at the Golf Channel. “PeakVision Sports is a valued Golf Channel partner and we look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship.”
Filming of The Big Break VII took place at Ginn Reunion Resort in Reunion, Fla., a 54-hole complex in Central Florida that has earned raves for its courses designed by legends Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Tom Watson. During the competition players will be eliminated from the series, with the last one standing awarded his or her “Big Break,” an opportunity to compete in an event on the Champions Tour, Nationwide Tour or the LPGA Tour.
“We thank the Golf Channel for the opportunity to participate in The Big Break VII, which promises to thrill fans with great golf and surprising twists,” says Paul Moore, CEO and founder of PeakVision Sports. “The Big Break has provided a great showcase for PeakVision Sports eyewear in the past and we are proud to provide players with an on-course edge again this season.”
In 2006, PeakVision Sports introduced five white-hot models – EL0, EL1, SD7, DG9 and GR4 -- that have become rapidly adopted by recreational golfers and players on the PGA, LPGA and Champions Tours. The company also launched the PEAKS Rx Program, allowing those with optical prescriptions to enjoy the benefits of PeakVision Sports eyewear in the EL0, EL1, SL8, SD7 and ST7 models.
PeakVision Sports sunglasses have proved highly popular among professional golfers, including 2007 LPGA rookies Kristy McPherson and Jeanne Cho-Hunicke. PGA Tour players Billy Andrade and Scott McCarron, Champions Tour mainstay Bruce Fleisher, golf “color” commentator David Feherty, and rising LPGA Tour players Moira Dunn, Mikaela Parmlid, Beth Bader, Jean Bartholomew, Becky Morgan and Heather Young are among those professional players who count PEAKS as an integral component in their golf equipment arsenal.
In addition to golfers performing at higher levels wearing PeakVision Sports sunglasses, they are also popular among skiers, professional baseball umpires and pilots.

About PeakVision Sports
The first major lens innovation in golfer-sunglass technology in more than 40 years, PeakVision Sports’ high-performance eyewear represents a radical step forward in optical design and lens manufacturing. The vast majority of sunglasses since the 1960s have had single-filter, polycarbonate lenses incapable of properly managing the bright hues of the horizon and sky versus the dark hues of terrain and landscape.
A breakthrough in sunglass design, PeakVision Sports’ innovative Dual-Zone lenses incorporate two filters into one lens, allowing golfers to clearly distinguish between the turf and the sky to create optimal visual acuity. The material used in PeakVision Sports lenses is liquid-cast and superior to the polycarbonate used in most sunglasses.
PeakVision Sports’ “See Better, Play Better” competitive advantage is enjoyed by PGA TOUR players Billy Andrade and Scott McCarron, Champions Tour legend Bruce Fleisher, golf “color” commentator David Feherty, LPGA Tour players Kristy McPherson, Jeanne Cho-Hunicke, Moira Dunn, Mikaela Parmlid, Beth Bader, Jean Bartholomew, Becky Morgan and Heather Young, as well as Briana Vega, winner of the Golf Channel’s “The Big Break VI: Trump National.” These highly competitive golfers and hundreds of other caddies and weekend warriors have unequivocally embraced PeakVision Sports sunglasses as a valuable component in their equipment arsenal.
PeakVision Sports is affecting a paradigm shift in which sunglasses are no longer viewed as a fashion accessory, but as an essential piece of equipment, no less important than a putter, driver or wedge.
