Pampling joins staff of shaft-maker United Sports Technologies

FORT WORTH, Texas — One of the world’s premier graphite shaft manufacturers, United Sports Technologies® (UST) proudly announces that 12-year PGA Tour veteran Rod Pampling has joined the UST Tour Staff. A two-time winner in 2006 with UST graphite shafts, Pampling is playing a Proforce V2 graphite shafts in his TaylorMade R7 460 driver and R7 fairway woods.

A native of Queensland, Australia, Pampling turned professional in 1994 and soon enjoyed success on the PGA Tour of Australasia, where he won the 1999 Canon Challenge. He achieved his first PGA Tour win at The INTERNATIONAL in 2004 and his second at the 2006 Bay Hill Invitational, which vaulted him into the Top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings. Also in 2006, he teamed up with Jerry Kelly to win the 2006 Merrill Lynch Shootout.

“We’re very excited about our new relationship with Rod Pampling joining our staff,” says Gene Simpson, vice president of marketing for UST brands. “Rod has already had great success playing the Proforce V2, and it’s a pleasure to ‘officially’ make him part of the UST team.”

The Proforce V2’s playing characteristics and low-torque design deliver a stable and consistent performance, that is specially optimized for today’s 400cc to 460cc clubheads, explains Simpson. Today’s larger driver heads increase hit-ability for many golfers, however, the larger heads also possess centers of gravity (CG) which have been repositioned further away from the shaft’s center line which results in more stress and twisting on the shaft. The V2’s low-torque design provides the power and control needed for 400cc to 460cc heads, prevents clubheads from twisting open on impact, and limits the amount of back spin imparted onto the ball, thus transferring more energy at impact with superior control.

The Proforce V2 — a 15-time winner on worldwide tours since its introduction — utilizes a proprietary graphite fiber orientation to enable the shaft to recover consistently when loaded or flexed and to give the shaft an incredibly stable feel in the golfer’s hands. Combining fiber orientation with lower torque engineering and enhanced flexibility, the V2 provides unparalleled stability and consistency, and balances the tip section to achieve a medium ball flight with increased ball speed, while the optimized torque reduces spin for superior control.
