Chuck Cook Golf Academy at Barton Creek unveils curriculum

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Chuck Cook Golf Academy at Barton Creek Resort & Spa offers the finest instructional program in the Southwest, the finest golf courses in Texas, and the luxury of a world-class resort. The Academy is offering a variety of schools, including new programs, in 2007 to meet the needs of all golfers.

New in 2007 are the four-day Chuck Cook VIP School, and a Half Day Putting School. The curriculum favorites are back this year: the two- and three-day schools—All-In-One, Ladies-Only, Short Game, Family Tee Together, and the five half-day Junior Academy. Total Golf, Individual, and Corporate programs also are available year round. You don’t have to be a pro to participate; each school is designed to help beginners and occasional golfers, as well as more serious advanced players looking for an edge over their next foursome.

The new Chuck Cook VIP School is designed for golfers wanting to step up their game. Chuck Cook will lead the course by evaluating each player with the Academy’s state of the art equipment—J.C. Video, K-Vest, DVPutt, and Golf Achiever Launch Monitor. All aspects of the game will be covered and include three days of on course play with a Pro. This exclusive school is limited to twelve with a minimum of four participants in each session offered.

The Half Day Putting School, also new in 2007, is dedicated solely to putting technique, green reading, strategy, and drills. A comprehensive putting analysis is performed using the DVPutt and the Edel Putter fitting system. Enrollment in each school is limited to four participants.
The All-In-One covers all aspects of the game of golf from putting to full swing; the Ladies- Only school covers all aspects of the game and pays attention to the different priorities women have in golf; the Short-Game includes a comprehensive wedge and putter fitting—essential to the short game; and the Family Tee Together combines a family learning environment with top-notch instruction.

The Junior Academy is a comprehensive camp designed to introduce new juniors to golf and upgrade more experienced golfers to college level. The Total Golf school is the ultimate golf learning experience designed for the serious golfer; it includes an individual assessment of your game, including fitness, mental outlook, equipment, strategy and biomechanics, as well as a psychological test and a club fitting.

One of the nation’s premier golf schools, the Academy offers an approach to assessing the student’s golf game in a way unlike any other available today. Director of Instruction, Chuck Cook, calls it “Balanced Golf,” and he incorporates the same methods used to generate winners
at professional levels. The Academy features five short-game greens for putting, chipping, pitching and bunker practice; a distance wedge area for shots ranging between 40 & 100 yards; a trouble shot area complete with a fairway bunker, rough and slopes; and a sand bunker green designed for both long and short bunker shots.

The Academy features the state-of-the-art J.C. Video system that tapes your game with four cameras, and the system accesses a library of over 100 professional swings for comparison. Other equipment utilized include the: K-Vest that provides a 3D graphical analysis of swing motion, and the DVPutt system that measures a student’s putter motion.

The Academy combines training and pleasure in the Rock House, a classic Hill Country stone house, at the scenic award-winning Fazio Canyons course. The Rock House is fully equipped with day lockers, a large classroom with big screen TV, a refreshment area and an outdoor patio next to a creek, creating Barton Creek’s signature Hill Country atmosphere.

Academy Staff at the Chuck Cook Golf Academy include Cook himself, certified instructors Barbara Puett, and Brech Spradley. Academy administrator Bobby Dean is a certified club fitter and certified Edel putter fitting specialist. Cook is recognized as one of the top 10 golf teachers in the U.S. and as one of the top 50 teachers of the 20th Century. “Our goal is to improve the games and meet the needs of all golfers. That’s what keeps us the state’s best facility,” said Chuck Cook. All instructors at the Academy have taught thousands of golfers of all abilities, and all have taught, coached, or played at the highest levels.
