Kaua'i resorts listed in Golf Digest's 75 Best in North America

KAUA‘I, Hawaii -- The Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau announces that several of the golf and resort properties in its golf-destination co-operative – Kaua‘i: Discover Golf’s Ultimate Island Green – have been voted onto Golf Digest Magazine’s biennial ranking of the “75 Best Golf Resorts in North America.”

Princeville at Hanalei – home to 45 golf holes designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. – is rated as the No. 23 best golf resort in North America by Golf Digest (up from No. 29 two years ago).

The Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort & Spa is rated No. 32 by Golf Digest, and is home to Poipu Bay Golf Course, which hosted the PGA Grand Slam of Golf for the past 13 years (1994-2006).

A third Kaua‘i resort – Kaua‘i Marriott Resort & Beach Club – garnered the elite distinction of being included on Golf Digest’s best-of list, rating No. 60. The acclaimed resort features two Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses at its Kaua‘i Lagoons Golf Club.

Golf Digest's biennial ranking of the 75 Best Golf Resorts in North America is determined by the magazine's Course Rating panelists, a group of more than 800 low-handicap golfers who rated hundreds of U.S., Canadian, Mexican and Caribbean resorts on a 10-point scale.

“Having three of Kauai’s four golf-destination partners rated among the very best golf resorts in North America by an esteemed publication such as Golf Digest is high praise indeed,” says Sue Kanoho, Executive Director of the Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau. “People are increasingly discovering that Kaua‘i offers something for everyone – from its unspoiled natural beauty and beaches to world-class resorts with many amenities, not the least of which is great golf courses by renowned architects.”

Kaua‘i golf courses and resorts are perennially included on Golf Digest’s best-of lists, a much-valued reality and objective third-party endorsement.

“We hope this distinction will entice people to visit Kaua‘i and experience these great golf resorts, as well our other golf-destination partner – Puakea Golf Course – a standalone golf course which is well-regarded in its own right,” says KVB Executive Director Kanoho.

Puakea, Poipu Bay, Kaua‘i Lagoons and Princeville combine to offer 117 holes of golf on “Kaua‘i: Discover Golf’s Ultimate Island Green.” For more information about them and the Garden Isle, visit www.kauaidiscovery.com/activities/golfing/ or call 800-262-1400
