C.W. Golf Architecture retains Resort & Golf Marketing for PR work

C.W. Golf Architecture, based in Ann Arbor, Mich., was formed in 2010 by Chris Wilczynski, a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. C.W. Golf Architecture is a full service golf course design company whose mission is to transform golf landscapes into sustainable businesses that provide economic, environmental, social, and health benefits for all of society.

Resort & Golf Marketing, based in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., is in its 29th year of advising golf clients on marketing and brand positioning. R&GM has been involved in more than 150 golf course projects, many of them from conception to grand opening. It assists developers and facility owners in a variety of ways, including public relations and marketing; insights into construction companies and earth shapers; recruitment of golf course architects; staff recruitment (golf professionals, course superintendents, general managers); and operations consultancy (merchandising, golf schools, green fee and membership pricing).

"Chris Wilczynski is a rising star among golf course architects," said Dave Richards, Founder and CEO of Resort & Golf Marketing. "The courses he designs are sensible, sustainable, aesthetically pleasing and fun to play for golfers of all skill levels. As the golf design business enters an era when playability is more important than designer one-upsmanship, Chris' talents are certain to be in high demand."

After graduating from Michigan State University in 1994 with a degree in Landscape Architecture, Wilczynski joined the firm of Arthur Hills & Associates (now Hills & Forrest), where he honed his craft as an associate, and eventually partner, for nearly 20 years. He teamed with Mr. Hills on roughly 20 design projects, ranging from upscale public, private and resort courses, to master-planned residential golf communities and course renovations.

Current C.W. Golf Architecture projects include the new 18-hole courses at The Esplanade Golf & Country Club in Naples, Fla., and The Esplanade Golf & Country Club at Lakewood Ranch in Sarasota, Fla.; and the renovation of prestigious Wanakah Country Club in suburban Buffalo, N.Y.

Wilczynski said his aspirations are modest, but nonetheless lofty.

"I don't want to grow into a large design company, so I plan to limit my workload and the number of projects I'm involved with," said Wilczynski. "I enjoy being hands-on, working on-site, in the dirt. I especially relish the challenge of fitting all the pieces together at master-planned communities. I've worked on a lot of those, and I'm confident I have unique insights regarding that kind of golf course.

"Of course, I do want to build my brand and let the golf world know about me," said Wilczynski. "I'm fortunate to have been chosen to design new layouts for Taylor-Morrison (developers of the two Esplanade communities in Florida), and I want the opportunity to work on more renovation projects at great classic clubs like Wanakah."

Resort & Golf Marketing will assist C.W. Golf Architecture in that quest. On the public relations and marketing front, R&GM specializes in personalized, effective networking with golf, business and travel media. Thanks to the experience gained and trust earned since its founding in 1984, R&GM is uniquely positioned to leverage a wide variety of relationships within today's ever-changing communications landscape.

"The name Dave Richards has always been synonymous with great golf projects," said Wilczynski. "He's helped so many people gain name recognition and build their brand. I really look forward to working with him."
