The legendary Mauna Kea Golf Course overlooks one of the world's most beautiful beaches on the west shore of Hawaii's Big Island and was recently ranked as the number one course on the island by Golf Magazine.
Ranked among the top 100 golf courses in the U.S., Mauna Kea opened in 1964 as the unique creation of the great golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones. It gained worldwide fame as the site of a memorable televised match among golf's "Big 3:" Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. In 2008, course architect Rees Jones brought his father's original layout into the 21st century with a careful and creative renovation. The enduring oceanfront layout was preserved while the challenge and playability were enhanced, insuring that Mauna Kea would rank among the world's greatest golf courses for decades to come.
The Mauna Kea Beach Hotel was developed by famed financier Laurance S. Rockefeller who is reputed to have said, "Every great beach deserves a great hotel," and built The Mauna Kea overlooking the beautiful Kauna'oa Bay. The hotel has 258 luxury guest rooms that include six suites and scored as one of the top three hotels in Hawaii in Travel + Leisure magazine's T+L 500 World's Best Hotels 2013.
In addition, Prince Resorts Hawaii, Inc. operates Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel and Hapuna Golf Course also on the Hawaii's Big Island and Hawaii Prince Hotel and Hawaii Prince Golf Club on Oahu. For more information, visit the website at www.PrinceResortsHawaii.com.
