ARMONK, N.Y. -- Brynwood Golf & Country Club's challenging par-3, 8th hole has been recognized in Westchester Magazine's Golf Guide feature, "Best 18 Golf Holes at Westchester County's Clubs and Courses in 2013." The popular annual Golf Guide is published in the May issue.
Brynwood joins three other distinguished clubs whose par-3s were selected for the "dream" circuit: Winged Foot, Quaker Ridge Golf Club and GlenArbor. The Golf Guide editors asked the head professionals at all the clubs in the county to identify their favorite holes on their home course. After the evaluation process, 18 "best" holes were selected representing 18 different golf clubs.
According to Josh Lowney, Brynwood's Director of Operations, "Our 8th hole may measure 216 yards, but it plays more like 240 because it's uphill and the green is elevated. There's water in front of you, so it's visually intimidating, too. The water shouldn't be in play, but there are thousands of balls in it. The hole averages well over four strokes throughout the year."
