Troon launching second "Player Development Month with Get Golf Ready"

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- In a continued effort to grow the game of golf, Troon is launching its second "Player Development Month with Get Golf Ready" during the entire month of May. In conjunction with the PGA of America's "Welcome to Golf Month," Troon daily-fee facilities, private clubs and Troon Golf Academies around the world will join together to conduct more than 500 introductory golf clinics and activities during the month of May. These clinics introduce beginners to the game in a fun, affordable and educational way and have benefited junior players like Tianlang Guan, the junior-amateur winner of the 2013 Masters Silver Cup who is also a member of the Troon-managed Lion Lake Country Club in China.

"I greatly appreciate efforts that encourage juniors to play and learn the game of golf," said Tianlang Guan. "Lion Lake Country Club in China has played a huge role in my development as a player and I am very grateful for the opportunities that these programs provide."

To make the clinics accessible to as many people as possible, participation in most events costs only $20 for adults, while juniors 17 years of age and younger are free. Clinics will run for a minimum of 60 minutes and will keep a ratio of no more than 10 students per instructor. At the conclusion of each clinic, participants will have the opportunity to continue their pursuit of the game by registering for a Get Golf Ready program, which includes five additional instructional classes starting at just $99.

"Based on the success of Troon's first ever 'player development month' last year, we are thrilled to launch the program again this May," stated John Easterbrook, executive vice president of operations, Troon. "Increasing participation in our game is extremely important and we are confident that this will make a strong impact on introducing beginners to the game."

Get Golf Ready has introduced the game to thousands of adults who have never played golf or who have minimal experience in the game. Overall, participants learn techniques regarding chipping, putting, full swing, half swing and bunker play, as well as the fundamental guidelines of use and maintenance of golf equipment, keeping score and navigating the course. Significant on-course learning opportunities are part of each lesson, as well as background on the game's rules, etiquette, history and values.

Studies clearly show that playing golf is good for your health and wellness. While being outside and enjoying the sunshine and serene landscape, a golfer will have a healthier state of well-being. Playing a round of golf also burns calories and rejuvenates the mind through one of the best forms of moderate aerobic activity - walking. It is also a great way to spend time with family and friends while enjoying the outdoors.
