Florida's Fernandina Beach Golf Club to host fundraising event

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- Fernandina Beach Golf Club - managed by Billy Casper Golf (BCG) - and The Nassau County Circle of Friends are co-sponsoring a "Country Rocks the Beach" concert at Ybor Alvarez Sports Complex and fundraising golf tournament at the club on Saturday, June 22.

Headlining the concert is country music star Craig Morgan who served 12 years in the Army and is still in the Army Reserve. He is also donating $15,000 in concert tickets to active duty military.

The Nassau County Circle of Friends Golf Tournament is on Friday, June 21 with a 9 a.m. shotgun-start. Entry is $100 per golfer or $350 per foursome and includes greens and cart fees, range balls, prizes, breakfast, lunch and admission to the Circle of Friends Honky Tonk Gala that evening at Fernandina Beach Golf Club and a ticket to "Country Rocks the Beach" concert.

A portion of proceeds from the two-day event will be donated to various non-profit organizations in Jacksonville, Nassau County and Camden County.

Concert tickets go on sale Monday, April 15 at 9 a.m. via www.ticketmaster.com

Golf tournament participation can be reserved at www.fernandinabeachgolfclub.com, 904.277.7370.

Morgan is no stranger to golf in the area as he worked with Fernandina Beach Golf Club to develop the Freedom Cup tournament, to be contested on June 18 among 150 golfers from Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Naval Station Mayport and Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.

"There is incredible anticipation building about the event at Fernandina Beach Golf Club," says Chad Barhorst, General Manager of Fernandina Beach Golf Club. "It is a great vehicle for our community to come together, have fun and give back to charity, all helping make our area a wonderful place to live."

Fernandina Beach Golf Club - located in the second oldest city in the United States - features 27 distinctive holes consisting of North, West and South nine-hole layouts of varied difficulty and design. At par-35 and 3,094 yards, the North nine is the oldest course on Amelia Island, opening in 1956. The championship-length West course's No. 2 hole is its signature, a par-5 monster measuring 607 yards from the tips. The South nine was the last to open in 1972 and is considered the most scenic.

A comprehensive practice area with a grass driving range and putting green helps golfers hone their games. Group and individual lessons are available through PGA-certified golf instructors.

Opened in 2000, the well-appointed clubhouse includes a fully-stocked pro shop, restaurant and banquet facilities for up to 200 guests.
