Jennifer Mario: Girlfriends, Callaways, Michelle Wie, and other Thanksgiving blessings

I enjoy spending Thanksgiving counting my blessings. Unlike, say, a certain politically minded expat who shall remain nameless (*cough Wolfrum cough*), I'll try not to rant about war profiteers and blood money and simply keep this Thanksgiving golf blog focused on, well, Thanksgiving and golf.

So here's my golf-specific list of things I'm thankful for:

• My Callaway x-18 irons. Damn, I love them. My driver, on the other hand, deserves severe punishment, not thanks.

• My golf girlfriends. Inhi, Anja, Mary, Sarah, you all rock.

• Female golf bloggers. When I started blogging oh so long ago, I was the only golf chick around. Now there's an actual Golf Chick, a Golf Girl, and a Webmistress who plays from the Forward Tees. You girls always seem to write exactly what I’m thinking. Mind if I blatantly steal your material every now and again?

William K. Wolfrum, Tim McDonald, and yes, Chris Baldwin. Guys, I may not always agree with you, but your unremitting crushes on me are kinda flattering. Married mothers of three need the occasional ego boost, believe me. Brandon, Ron Mon, Kiel, Shanks, I’m thankful for you too, but there’s been a serious lack of fawning from your end lately.

• Speaking of unremitting, I’m thankful for Michelle Wie and her optimism. She’s in Japan as we speak, making another stab at the Casio Open. Last year she missed the cut by a single stroke. Her play against men lately hasn’t exactly been stellar, but does she let that bother her? Of course not. We could all use a dose of that kind of confidence. Say what you will about her, she makes golf quite interesting to watch, and that's something to be thankful for.

• My husband. Best golf partner ever. And he puts up with my Goosen-ogling most patiently. Yes, he's standing over my shoulder telling me to write this, but that doesn't make it any less true.

So what are you thankful for?
