Golfsmith International rebrands Boston-area 'Golf Town' stores

AUSTIN, Texas -- Golfsmith International, the world's largest specialty golf retailer, is rebranding its seven Boston-area Golf Town stores to the Golfsmith brand and customer experience. The move is part of the company's growth strategy, as it builds on its success becoming the region's largest golf retailer and integrates all of its U.S. stores under the Golfsmith umbrella.

Customers will continue to receive the same world-class service and expertise they have come to enjoy, with the best selection of golf's premier brands and an interactive 'try before you buy' player experience. Golf Town gift cards and other Golf Town programs will still be honored at Golfsmith locations.

To celebrate the rebranding, Golfsmith is hosting Grand Opening Events April 5-7 at all seven Boston-area stores. More than $15,000 in golf gear and prize giveaways will be awarded at the newly named Golfsmith locations. All customers who visit a Golfsmith store on Friday, Saturday or Sunday can register to win a $1,000 shopping spree and other prizes including drivers and fairway woods—with winners to be announced at close of business Sunday. Additionally, the first 100 people to visit each of the seven locations when stores open at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning will receive a goody bag.

The newly renamed Golfsmith locations are:
• Avon, MA, 75 Stockwell Drive, Unit A
• Bellingham, MA, Charles River Center 251 A Hartford Avenue , Suite A-195
• Natick, MA, 1398 Worcester Street (Route 9)
• Northborough, MA, 6104 Shops Way
• Reading, MA, The Crossing at Walkers Brook, 40 Walkers Brook Drive
• Seekonk, MA, 45 Highland Avenue
• Watertown, MA, Arsenal Mall, 615 Arsenal Street, Unit B

All 150 former Golf Town employees at these stores have become Golfsmith employees.

"Folks in the Greater Boston area are passionate about golf, and have been great supporters of our Golf Town stores," said Sue Gove, President and CEO, Golfsmith International. "While the name on the store is changing, New Englanders will get the same world-class customer service and expertise when they shop at Golfsmith. We'll also bring exciting new customer offerings like advanced custom-fitting and pre-owned clubs to help golfers of all levels find the right gear."
